Myanmar to release 5,600 held over anti-military protests

According to an announcement on its state television on Monday, Myanmar will release 5,636 people arrested over their roles in protests against its ruling military.

The amnesty was for humanitarian reasons, the channel said, blaming outlawed opposition groups for stoking the unrest.
