Floods triggered by heavy rains in the southern Indian state of Kerala have washed away properties, with dozens of deaths reported as of October 18.

Powerful currents in the Mundakayam area of Kottayam district swept away a building and damaged other properties.

Torrential rains across the state led to flash floods and landslides in several areas, with the Indian army and navy called in to rescue residents.
