New Zealand's new governor-general has been sworn in for a five-year term. Dame Cindy Kiro is the first indigenous woman to hold the largely ceremonial role in the South Pacific nation. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Kiro. He said China and New Zealand are important cooperative partners. Xi also said both countries have cooperated in COVID-19 prevention and control and economic recovery.
