Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, visited the Shengli Oilfield in the city of Dongying in east China's Shandong Province on October 21. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the oilfield. Xi pointed out that China, as a major manufacturing country, must have its own energy industry in order to develop the real economy.
