Residents were told not to leave Beijing unless they had to and reduce participation in public gathering activities, including large-scale meetings and forums.
Beijing reported six locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday. Five of them traveled to north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and north China's Shanxi Province from October 12 to 15.
Over 100 COVID-19 cases linked to travel groups have been registered on the Chinese mainland from October 17 to 22.
