Two people were killed and seven others injured when a gas explosion struck a residential building in the county-level city of Wafangdian in northeast China's port city of Dalian on Sunday, local authorities said. 

The flames have since been extinguished and the wounded sent to the hospital.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
