M6.3 earthquake hits Yilan County in China's Taiwan region: CENC

A magnitude-6.3 earthquake jolted Yilan County in China's Taiwan region at 1:11 p.m. on Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 60 kilometers, CENC said.

The local weather bureau said the quake had a magnitude of 6.5 at a depth of 66.8 kilometers and was followed by a magnitude-5.4 aftershock. 

China's National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center said based on preliminary parameters, the quake won't trigger a tsunami.

Tremors were felt in the mainland cities of Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou in southeast China's Fujian Province.
