Vietnam plans to open next month a resort island to foreign tourists that have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Authorities said the island of Phu Quoc will welcome visitors with vaccine certificates and negative test results starting from November 20.
Vietnam seeks to revitalize its tourist industry after nearly two years of closure. In 2019, the resort island earned more than $18 billion from international visitors, rivaling other tourist destinations in the region, such as Phuket in Thailand and Indonesia's Bali.
