October 25 marks the 50th anniversary of restoration of China's lawful seat in the United Nations (UN). Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said China has been making contributions as a responsible member of the UN. He also said China's economy and national strength as well as science and technology have seen great development over the past 50 years, and China helps other developing countries improve their capacity for growth after it has achieved such progress itself.
