CGTN's Inheritors meets guqin, a musical instrument with long history
00:47

The guqin is a plucked seven-string instrument. Played since ancient times, it is sometimes called "the father of Chinese music" and even "the instrument of sages". It was one of the four arts – along with calligraphy, painting and an ancient form of chess – that Chinese scholars were expected to master. CGTN Inheritors meets several guqin artists and explore with them the history of the instrument and its art. We will also discuss the guqin's place in music today, and its future.
