October 25 marks the 50th anniversary of the recognition of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal representative of China at the United Nations (UN). October 24 was the 76th United Nations Day. In 1945, the UN Charter went into effect. Over the past half century, China's role in the organization has changed dramatically, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he hopes to strengthen cooperation.
