Sudan's Information Ministry declared on Monday that the civilian government led by Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is still the legal transitional authority in the country, and denied the cabinet's dissolution.

In a statement, the ministry confirmed that the constitution grants the authority to declare a national state of emergency exclusively to the prime minister, and does not afford the power to dissolve transitional institutions to any party other than the legislative council.

The ministry has demanded that the Sudanese army release the prime minister and all other arrested officials.
