Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory message to Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his re-election as Uzbekistan's president.

In his message, President Xi said that under the leadership of Mirziyoyev, the Central Asian nation had seen remarkable achievements in the building of the "New Uzbekistan" and contributed to the stability and development of the region. The Chinese president expects Uzbekistan will continue to make more and greater achievements in all aspects.

Noting that China and Uzbekistan have been deepening cooperation in various fields since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of bilateral ties. 

Noting that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, the Chinese president said he is ready to work with Mirziyoyev to write new chapters in developing the China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of both peoples.

Mirziyoyev won 80.1 percent of the vote in an election held on Sunday, the Uzbek Central Election Commission announced on Monday.
