In this episode, contemporary reader Sa Beining steps onto two historical stages 2,000 years apart to reveal the past and present of the "Book of Documents." In 1900 at Mogao Caves, Taoist priest Wang chanced upon a cave of preserved sutras. The cave housed over 10,000 volumes of ancient classics, among which was the earliest-known text of the "Book of Documents."

About 2,000 years ago, Confucius compiled the "Book of Documents." He explained that it could enable one "to learn about the ancient sages' fundamentals of governance, understand the reasons for the rise and fall of dynasties, and appreciate the significance of self-cultivation."
