The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has surpassed 246 million, with over 5 million deaths, the latest data from Johns Hopkins University shows.

The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported 59 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases along with 33 imported cases.

In South Korea, new rules aimed at moving people toward "living with COVID-19" came into effect on Monday, with the easing of a range of curbs and the introduction of vaccine passports at high-risk venues such as gyms, saunas and bars.
