State oil company workers and doctors have joined protests against the Sudanese military taking control of the government, leading to soldiers and protesters clashing overnight Wednesday. Growing domestic and international pressure has been mounting on the military, as demonstrators have taken to the streets in capital Khartoum, rejecting a number of measures announced by the general commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. The country's top general on Monday declared a state of emergency across the country, dissolved the Sovereign Council and the transitional government, and relieved state governors of their posts.
