The Chinese mainland recorded 64 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 48 cases of local transmissions and 16 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Friday.
Of the new local cases, 19 were reported in Inner Mongolia, 12 in Gansu, nine in Heilongjiang, three in Qinghai, two each in Beijing and Ningxia, and one in Yunnan, the commission said.
In addition, 23 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, three of which were locally transmitted, while 410 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.
Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 97,002, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:
Hong Kong: 12,337 (12,033 recoveries, 213 deaths)
Macao: 77 (72 recoveries)
Taiwan: 16,394 (13,742 recoveries, 847 deaths)
