As a key innovative cultural show produced by CMG, "China in the Classics" examines the stirring stories of ancient Chinese classics by selecting the most outstanding of these traditional cultural masterpieces and examining the process of creation and core ideology in a form combining cultural seminars, drama and visualization. It brings the ancient classics "alive," demonstrating Chinese wisdom, ethos and values implied in the ancient classics.

This episode features Confucius at the age of 55, when he traveled from state to state with his disciples, promoting benevolent governance and virtuous rule. They encountered a lot of difficulties and hardships along the way.

Confucius and his disciples were trapped somewhere between the states of Chen and Cai. For seven days they had no food. Confucius shared the only remaining bowl of gruel with his disciples. After 14 years of traveling, his ideal had still not been realized.
