Chinese President Xi Jinping will address the 16th Group of 20 (G20) Leaders' Summit via video link at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Friday.

The summit will be held on October 30 and 31 in Rome.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the summit in Rome as Xi's special representative, another Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a regular press briefing on Friday.

With global economic recovery facing great uncertainties, the G20 should uphold true multilateralism, promote solidarity and cooperation, and build a consensus on reviving the economy and facilitating inclusive and sustainable development across the world, the spokesperson said.

China stands ready to work together with relevant parties at the summit and make contributions to the global fight against COVID-19 and world economic recovery, he added.
