Hundreds of thousands march against military in Sudanese capital

Hundreds of thousands of protesters are rallying in the Sudanese capital Khartoum and other cities against the military after the ousting of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok's cabinet.

The protesters are demanding a quick transition to civilian rule, according to CGTN's Khartoum correspondent Naba Mohiedeen.

Heavy deployments of joint forces including the military, riot police as well as security and rapid support forces were seen in the streets of the capital.

Security forces had blocked the roads leading to the defense ministry complex and the airport, as well as most of the bridges connecting Khartoum with the cities of Omdurman and Khartoum North.

In Omdurman, the military reportedly fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse protesters.

The Sudanese doctors committee has confirmed that two protesters died in front of the parliament building in the city.
