U.S. President Joe Biden said he wanted to manage the disagreements between the United States and Turkey effectively, during a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome on Sunday, amid simmering tensions between the two countries.

"President Biden underscored his desire to maintain constructive relations, expand areas of cooperation, and manage our disagreements effectively," the White House said in a readout on the meeting between the U.S. president and his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan.

Both presidents agreed on Sunday to form a joint mechanism to improve bilateral ties, Turkish state-run TRT broadcaster reported.
