A man in his 20s was detained after a knife and fire attack on a train in Tokyo on Sunday, Japanese media Kyodo news said, with 15 people reportedly injured.

Local media reported the man had spread a flammable liquid around the train and set it on fire.

Police responded at around 8 p.m. after receiving report of a man swung a knife around on the Keio Line. 

Videos posted online showed passengers fleeing inside the vehicle and people evacuating through windows to escape the train.

According to early report, one of the injured, one man in his 80s was rendered unconscious.
