Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday called for deepening global partnerships for development when addressing the Group of 20 (G20) Leaders' Summit.

Xi told the summit that countries should stick to pursuing mutual benefits and a win-win outcome and building partnerships.

Developed countries should effectively fulfill their commitments on aid and provide more resources for developing countries, he said, adding China will jointly advance the cause of global development by integrating China's Global Development Initiative with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Xi prioritized development in his speech and called for concrete actions to promote a more robust, greener and healthier development worldwide.

Stressing that priority should be given to development with a people-centered approach, Xi said that China calls for common consensus and concrete actions from the G20 so as to push forward pragmatic actions and build partnerships under the principle of win-win cooperation.

Developing countries are faced with an unprecedented impact due to the pandemic, and the pandemic once again proves that countries share the future and have the common interests, Xi said. Thus, promoting sustainable development in developing countries not only benefits relevant countries and peoples, but also concerns the future of the entire humanity and the globe.

The Chinese president called on the international community to put cooperation in development at the prominent position on global macro-policy coordination as well as the G20 agenda and spare no effort in settling issues such as poverty and unbalanced development.

Calling for the adherence to action-orientated policies and pragmatic cooperation, Xi suggested that great importance should be attached to the needs of developing countries in expanding investment, and cooperation in key areas such as poverty relief, food security, industrialization, and that connectivity should be strengthened.
