00:48

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Rome on the sidelines of the G20 World Leaders Summit on Sunday. Wang urged Washington to change what he called was its "wrong" China policy. Wang said relations in recent years had suffered an all-round impact due to Washington's policies, and the current U.S. Congress has introduced more than 300 anti-China bills. He also voiced opposition to Washington's attempt to suppress China on a global scale. For his part, Blinken said the United States will continue to follow the one-China principle regarding Taiwan, and the two sides should develop relations based on mutual respect. He said the United States is willing to maintain communication with China, and avoid confrontations or crises.
