Located in the far west of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Kashgar is one of China's westernmost cities. The Ancient City of Kashgar, well protected under a government-sponsored renovation project in 2010, is considered the center of Kashgar and has a history of more than 2,000 years.
