China says Pentagon's military power report 'full of prejudice'

The Pentagon's report on Chinese military power is full of prejudice and ignorant of truth, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.

With the report, which was released on Wednesday, the U.S. aims to hype up talk of "the China nuclear threat," the spokesperson said, adding that the U.S. – who owns 5,550 nuclear warheads – is in fact the biggest source of nuclear threat globally.

The AUKUS submarine deal between the U.S., Australia and the UK also undermines regional stability and international peace and security, Wang said.

He further outlined that China has urged the U.S. to take responsibility for nuclear disarmament and slash its nuclear stockpiles, in order to safeguard global strategic balance and stability.
