The fourth edition of one of China's major annual expos, the China International Import Expo (CIIE), is set to open in the country's financial center Shanghai on Friday.
Scheduled from November 5 to 10, the 4th CIIE has attracted nearly 3,000 business exhibitors from 127 countries and regions, according to Sun Chenghai, deputy head of the CIIE bureau.
The total exhibition area of the 4th CIIE will be 366,000 square meters, 6,000 square meters larger than that of last year, said Sun.
China is presently braving a new wave of COVID-19, but the six-day expo will take place on schedule. However, the pandemic containment measures are much stricter than last year.
Participants are required to go through a 14-day quarantine in designated hotels and seven-day health management at home. All participants must upload negative results from nucleic acid tests done within 48 hours to obtain entry into the CIIE grounds, and they must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before the date of entering the venues.
According to the CIIE bureau, the third edition concluded with tentative deals worth $72.62 billion reached for one-year purchases of goods and services.
