Smears have been lingering in recent years regarding the demographics in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region – home to Uygur Muslims and diverse minority groups. Some Western politicians and experts accuse China of a population squeeze to reduce the birth rate among locals, even though population growth among Xinjiang's ethnic minorities has been steady. CGTN's Feng Yilei talked to residents in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang, to find out what lies behind people's decisions to have kids or not.
