Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on Information Minister George Kordahi to "listen to his conscience and prioritize national interest" at a news conference in Beirut on Thursday. 

On October 26, Qatari Al Jazeera TV aired Kordahi's critical comments on the Saudi-led coalition involved in Yemen's civil war. The show was recorded about a month before Kordahi was named information minister in September 2021.

Arab Gulf countries expressed strong criticism against Kordahi's comments. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have recalled their envoys to Lebanon. Saudi Arabia also banned all imports from Lebanon.
