At least three women were killed and two others injured after a mass shooting in Norfolk, in the U.S. state of Virginia, on Wednesday evening, according to local media outlets citing the police.

"The suspect, a man, shot a woman then shot four other women as they tried to help the first victim," the reports said.

The investigation into the incident is underway.
