As the 19th of the 24 solar terms on the Chinese lunar calendar, Lidong is considered the start of winter. Even in many places in the south enjoying pleasant Indian Summer weather, a strong cold air will quickly disperse the warmth. Beijing has welcomed the first snow of the winter, and we can feel the rotation of seasons. After the start of winter, trees wither and the land freezes, preparing for the long winter that follows.
