One person has been killed and 5,609 people affected by blizzards in Tongliao City, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region since November 5, local authorities said on Monday.

The heavy snow has caused direct economic losses of around 34.46 million yuan (around 5.39 million U.S. dollars) as of 4:30 p.m. Monday, said the local emergency management department.
