Live updates: Global COVID-19 cases surpass 258 million

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has surpassed 258 million, with over 5.1 million deaths, the latest data from Johns Hopkins University shows.

Here is the latest: 

The Chinese mainland recorded 19 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, including five cases of local transmission. 

Australia will allow entry to fully vaccinated eligible visa holders into the country from December 1 without applying for a travel exemption.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex has tested positive for COVID-19, and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo who had a meeting with Castex prior to his diagnosis is self-isolating.
