An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck near the coast of Nicaragua early on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey, hours after a magnitude-5.8 quake hit the region.

Tremors were felt in the capital city Managua, local media reported. 

No alert for a tsunami has been issued so far, and no casualties were reported.
