The office of Czech President Milos Zeman released a statement on Tuesday to confirm his formal request that Civic Democratic Party (CDP) leader Petr Fiala, who topped last month's elections, form a new government.
"I have accepted this mandate. In the coming days, I will continue negotiations with coalition partners on the final form of the government," Fiala tweeted in response to Zeman's request.
