The fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE) concludes in Shanghai, China on Wednesday. 

Despite the long-lasting COVID-19 pandemic, the CIIE has featured a wider range of industries than in 2020 and an expanded exhibition area of 366,000 square meters.

More than 80 percent of Fortune Global 500 and industry-leading companies from last year's CIIE have returned. They include the world's top three auction houses, top three fashion and luxury consumable groups, top four grain traders, top 10 automobile groups, and top 10 medical device enterprises.

The CIIE has attracted nearly 3,000 offline exhibitors from 127 countries and regions to its Business Exhibition. Among them are a significant number of cooperative representatives from Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) nations, BRICS nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation members, and least developed nations.

The CIIE showcases a special zone for new product launches, with 62 businesses debuting more than 100 products, technologies and services. The zone offers visitors new opportunities and a peek into emerging industry trends.

The CIIE is the first national-level import-themed professional trade fair in the world. Initiated by the Chinese government in 2018, it continues to be a significant platform for the nation's opening-up and enhancing of international economic cooperation and free trade.
