Chinese diplomat Wang Wenbin on Thursday called on the international community to continue "constructive talks" with the Taliban, under the condition of respecting the country's sovereignty, independence, and the integrity of its soil.

"Afghanistan is now undergoing four hurdles at the same time," the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson pointed out, citing political, economic, terrorist and humanitarian fronts.

The comment came a day after the "Troika Plus" meeting held in Islamabad, Pakistan, where representatives from the U.S., China, Russia and Pakistan participated. The four agreed to continue practical engagement with the Taliban, and called on their interim government in Afghanistan to work with fellow Afghans in taking steps to form an inclusive and representative government.

They've also called on the international community to provide urgent humanitarian aid and financial aid to the country, while condemning the recent terrorist attacks taken place.

Representatives of the four countries also met with Acting Foreign Minister of the Afghan Taliban's Interim Government Amir Khan Muttaqi on Thursday, saying that they would provide urgent humanitarian aid and financial aid to the country and will strengthen anti-terrorism efforts and security cooperation with the country.
