Three suspects have been arrested in connection with an explosion that tore through a mosque in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar Province that killed at least three people and injured 15 others, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said on Friday. 

The explosion happened during Friday prayers in Spin Ghar district of the province, near the border with Pakistan.

Locals believed that the number of casualties could be higher as the mosque was crowded during the prayers.

It is the second blast at a mosque in the eastern Nangarhar Province within a month. The terrorist group Islamic State had claimed responsibility for the previous blast that left over a dozen dead and injured.
