One protester was killed and several more were wounded by live fire from Sudanese security forces during demonstrations on Saturday in Khartoum's twin city of Omdurman, medics said.

The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors said there were a large number of wounded with different types of injuries and that it was difficult to get them to hospitals.

Witnesses told multiple media outlets that Sudanese security forces fired tear gas to disperse protesters, as dozens demonstrated against the military.

This came two days after the military sought to form a new ruling council, according to the reports.
