China hopes to bring its relationship with the United States back to the right track of stable development, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Monday when talking about the upcoming meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden.

The two leaders will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday morning (Beijing Time).

They will exchange views on strategic issues regarding the future of China-U.S. relations and major issues of common concern, said ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian.

At a regular press conference, Zhao also stressed the meeting's importance to bilateral ties and international relations. 

Both the people of China and the United States, as well as the international community, hope that the meeting will achieve results that are beneficial to both countries and the world, Zhao said.

China hopes that the two countries will meet each other halfway, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, effectively manage differences and properly handle sensitive issues, he added.
