03:11

U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has announced a deal to make its COVID-19 pill more affordable in developing countries. Pfizer said on Tuesday it reached a royalty-free agreement to allow production of their antiviral pill, Paxlovid, in 95 developing nations. The medicine was shown to cut hospitalization or mortality by nearly 90 percent in high-risk patients. The drugmaker is currently seeking approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Hu Naijun, associate professor of the School of Public Policy and Management at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, shares his point of view.
