Brazil's yearly Amazon deforestation up 22%, 15-year record

Brazil's Amazon rainforest lost more than 13,000 square kilometers over 12 months from August last year. The country's space research institute says that's almost a 22 percent increase from the year before and the highest loss since 2006. The figures cast doubt on President Bolsonaro's pledge to reverse spiking illegal deforestation.
