Afghan security forces have raided an alleged hideout of the Islamic State in the capital Kabul, and killed one militant. A few others were arrested. The operation comes in the wake of twin blasts in a heavily Shi'ite Muslim area of Kabul on Wednesday. At least one person was killed and six others wounded, including three women. ISIS-K claimed responsibility. On Thursday, there was a blast at a checkpoint in Kabul. A bomb was stored in a nearby container. No casualties were reported. The UN envoy to Afghanistan says an affiliate of the militant Islamic State group has expanded, and now appears to be present in nearly all 34 provinces of the country.
