Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu pledged on Tuesday to safeguard international and regional stability.

During a video call, the two defense ministers said China and Russia will continue to deepen strategic cooperation between the two militaries, and boost cooperation in strategic exercise, joint patrol and other areas.

Both sides will make new contributions to safeguarding the core interests of China and Russia and maintaining international and regional security and stability, they said.

Wei and Shoigu also recognized the breakthroughs and new developments the two militaries have achieved in joint exercises and training this year.
