German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier signed the Infectious Diseases Protection Act into law on November 22, with effect from November 23.

The German government decided to impose new restrictions on workplaces and public spaces as the country grapples with a new surge of COVID-19 infections. 

Germany recorded 30,643 infections on Monday, with less than 70 percent of the population currently inoculated, local authorities revealed.
