WHO: COVID-19 vaccines lower risks but do not prevent transmission

The World Health Organization (WHO) says COVID vaccines reduce virus transmission by about 60 percent, but with the arrival of the Delta variant that drops to only 40 percent. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that people were falling into a false sense of security that vaccines have ended the pandemic. Vaccines were hailed as a huge breakthrough, but these statements seem a little less positive. What do these numbers mean for finally ending the pandemic?
