The consumption of coffee has seen a meteoric rise in recent years in China. Although tea has been the signature drink in Chinese culture, and coffee was a very marginal phenomenon in the country until recently, the aroma of its beans is enticing huge numbers of consumers. 

The trend is especially visible in the east China metropolis of Shanghai, which by some estimates hosts more cafes than any other city in the world. How many are we talking about?
