Alarm is growing over a new coronavirus variant first detected in Southern Africa and countries around the globe are racing to restrict travel from the region. The World Health Organization has named the mutated strain Omicron and calls it a "variant of concern". Vaccine-makers warn that their jabs might not protect against the new strain.
