The research team at Rome's Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital released the first photo of the Omicron variant on Saturday.

The photo compares the Omicron and Delta variant spike protein structures to the original Sars CoV-2 spike.

According to the researchers, Omicron has many more Delta mutations (already significantly varied in itself) concentrated in the  area that interacts with human cells.
