Two suspected cases of the new Omicron coronavirus variant were detected in travelers entering Denmark from South Africa, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health late Saturday.

Israel on Saturday banned its citizens from traveling to 50 African countries in order to prevent the spread of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant, the Ministry of Health said in a statement. The  government has also decided to ban the entry of foreign nationals into the country in an attempt to stop the spread of the Omicron variant.

Kuwait suspended direct flights with nine African countries on Saturday due to concerns over the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.

Egypt has suspended direct flights to and from several southern African countries due to concerns over the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.

South Korea said Saturday that it will restrict visa issuance and arrivals from eight African nations, including South Africa, starting Sunday to block the inflow of the new Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State Department on Saturday advised against travel to eight southern African countries after the White House announced new travel restrictions in response to a new COVID-19 variant. Doctor Anthony Fauci said the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus could already be in the United States.
